Nappy Rash – natural remedy

Nappy Rash – Natural Remedy

As new mommies and daddies, we struggle to understand what our little ones is trying to share with us through their coo-ing and of course, cries.  In our effort to ensure our newborns sleep as much as they can, we sometimes, forget to let their bums breathe.

I had the experience when Lydia was born.  For a while I wondered why she was crying even though she has been well-fed, and diapers changed, and no fever whatsover.  It took an experienced mommy to share with me that perhaps he butts were uncomfortable.  True enough, there were tiny red spots on her buttocks and it turned out to be nappy rash.

While friends will suggest applying nappy rash cream, an effective solution is actually to just let her bumps air… after airing it for say 2 – 3 times (each about 10-15 min), Lydia’s bottoms were a-ok again.  Thought this may be a good remedy for new parents too!

New Cousin

In 2007, we welcomed the arrival of our baby cousin - Elias.  By than Lydia was already 9 years old and had steady hands and strong arms to carry her baby cousin.

Babies are such wonderful addition to the family.  While it is true there’s a lot of dedication and commitment and energy required to nurse, wash, feed the little bundle, it’s also amazing to watch them grow and see their senses develop.  God is truly amazing… understand that the first 24 months mark the most exponential growth of any human being.

Now Elias is a happy 3 year old boy, who eats well, communicates well, plays well … and is also a big brother to his baby Joshua ‘di-di’.

The beginning of a Journey

Having kids is a major consideration.  Not only do we have to work out the finances, we also have to ensure there’s appropriate childcare arrangemnent, and not to mention the dilemma or breast feeding or bottle feeding or both and for how long.

This will be an attempt to try to recall the journey that I have started some 12 years ago when Lydia was born.  Following that 3 other siblings joined her, and not to mention some 8 other cousins as well!  These days, when the family gathers, it’s a happy hearty, lively event, where everyone is trying to speak at the same time.

Over the next few years, I am sure the scene will change when the kids enter their teenage years and hormonal change sets in… Hopefully the bond will remain, though the activities they do when they gather will likely take a different slant.
